Nurse Clinician III staffing Children's 6-North and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Children's 6-North patient volume included private pediatric patients of all diagnoses including End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), chronic renal disease, renal transplantation, and oncology of all types and degrees, In addition to the above, there were frequently overflow patients from other units with a variety of diagnoses. Pediatric Intensive Care Unit patients included critically ill patients requiring 2:1, 1:1, and 1:2 nursing care. Examples of this nursing care included ventilator-assisted patients, post-operative open and closed heart surgical cases, infectious diseases, diabetic ketoacidosis, acute renal failure, trauma, and patients with severe respiratory compromise requiring ECMO (Extra-Corporial Membrane Oxygenosis).
